We have two film and event locations available for hire. Contact me for more information.
Both venues are popular with film and TV crews as well as being used for conferences, wine tastings, charity balls and other events.
The Portobello Gold
Notting Hill and Portobello Road in particular is one of the most famous media locations in London. Portobello Gold is situated right in the heart of the Portobello Antiques market which runs only on Saturdays. As opposed to the fruit and veg market further down the street, the Antiques block is the quietest part of the whole road, with no through traffic and mainly pedestrians.
- Our tropical conservatory with sliding glass roof, offers plenty of light on a winter's day. The (Kentia) palms, weeping figs and Yukkas are 20 years old and are very photogenic. As the bar operates as an Internet Cafe during the daytime, it is reasonably quiet in the weekday. Crews can be fed and watered in this area throughout the day.
- Our roof terrace is a great favourite and was chosen by Working Title for roof top scenes in 'Notting Hill'. There is a pleasant view of St Peters Church to the rear, Kensal Rise four miles to the North and a perfect panorama of the whole of the Portobello Road Antiques market (on Saturdays only). The 900 sq ft space is not overlooked and access is straight out of our hotel apartment (no clambering up ladders).
- Unlimited use of broadband Internet access via wireless and ethernet sockets is available throughout the building. There is also an Internet cafe on the ground floor.
- Our seven hotel rooms (all with direct outside lines and digital cable TV) can double as dressing rooms.
- Our kitchen and bar can cater for units of up to 70 people (usually from 8am).
- Parking is exceptionally good for London - except Saturdays. There are pay and display and single yellow lines and, with the market only on Saturdays, very little traffic.
The Farm
This non-working farm sits alone at the top of the Chilterns and whilst it offers the hill’s only crew and production facilities, it is also a very special location in its own right. It has been the site of numerous film and commercial work: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Bridget Jones' Diary, BBC's Down Under, etc...
- Unparalleled 50 mile 360 degree views over 7 counties.(Berks, Bucks, Oxon, Wilts, Glos, Northants, Herts).
- Stunning night views. The nearest street lights are about 6 miles away and about ten towns (from Swindon to Aylesbury) are visible.
- There is little to No light pollution, very rare in Southern England.
- Unobstructed communications (for outside broadcasts and mobiles) – a large number of distant communications towers are visible from here. The only wireless broadband connection in the area (via microwave).
- Very quiet: 6 miles from the M40, on a D road and 28 miles from Heathrow airport.
- Easy access (10 min. from M40). Close to West London (45 min.Notting Hill)
- Stunning landscaped inside/outside swimming pool (“Best home-designed swimming pool 1992” – Oxford Pools Award), in a walled garden with a flow-over spa from inside a conservatory. Dark blue mosaic tiles, rocks and planting to the edge of the pool give the impression of a natural “swimming hole”
- Ample parking for up to 40 cars (on grass) plus hard parking for large vehicles.
- Concrete helicopter landing pad away from trees.
- A further nine acres of hill-top fields with stunning views for filming, parking, or marquees.
- Catering kitchen available or full cateriing brought to site from Portobello Gold

The main “hall” itself is approximately 75 ft x 25ft, 200 years-old, with fine timbers and a half timbered, insulated roof. recent renovations include under-floor heating throughout, Welsh slate flooring throughout, a large walk-in brick fireplace and all timber was lime-washed and the entire interior resored in a warm, period terracotta plasterwork. There are 4 large medieval candle chandeliers and a minstrels’ gallery featuring a rare “Juliet balcony”. It serves as the family's Games' Room and is furnished with large Knoll sofes, leather Westminsters, large billiard table, piano, gym, etc. All can be moved to clear the space if needed. It is ideally suited as a film set. It has 2 pairs of 10ft high loading doors offering vehicular access and tons of north light. It also has fine distant views with no visible buildings, the silence only being broken by the occasional Tiger Moth. There is a 60 amp electricity supply and fully wired throughout with microwaved wireless broadband Internet access (512k up / 512k down) receivable throughout most of the grounds. Adjoining the main hall there are a number of rooms offering a toilets, shower/baths, catering kitchen and comfortable dressing rooms.
